Good news for Star Wars fans — or really anyone ready for the conclusion of the “Skywalker Series” — the currently untitled Star Wars IX is set to release right around next Christmas. Even better, it’s going to feature a couple of intriguing additions to its cast.
Obviously, the gang from The Last Jedi will be showing up for the sequel trilogy’s close. IGN reports on the cast here:
“They include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Newcomers for Episode IX are Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant.”
That’s to be expected, with two exciting additions to the main cast. However, Lucasfilm also released the news that there would be some even more familiar faces from the Star Wars franchise starring in the upcoming finale.
These characters may not make their appearance in the way we expect, and for now there’s really no information about the plot of Star Wars IX, but I’m personally psyched about the film. I really enjoyed TLJ and love the original trilogy (yes, I have a major soft spot for the prequels as well) so I’m very ready to see how the epic space opera concludes. Well, concludes in terms of the Skywalker legacy, because who knows if this film will really be where the franchise ends.
